The Penistone & District Community Partnership was started in 2001 by a group of local people, keen to improve the area. Starting with just one member of staff, it has since grown, and now employs 5 staff, some part-time. It also hosts the local Development Officer of the Development Trusts Association, and has a student on part-time placement from the University of Huddersfield. The Partnership received charitable status early in 2006, and became a member of the Development Trust Association in March 2007.
