Yorkshire Day 2006
1st August 2006 was the date that Penistone showed how capable it is in showing itself off to visitors. Despite the weather, the crowds turned out to watch the parade of civic dignitaries, be entertained by the clowns, and take the bus tour to Royd Moor Viewing Point and Hartcliffe Tower. Hundreds of people turned up at both St Johns Church and the Community Centre to take part in various activities, including watching the junior morris dancers and, for the youngsters, children's craft activities. There were Yorkshire films showing at the Paramount, and an organ concert at St Andrews Church. The day finished with the official blessing of St Johns Gardens by Father David.
