Silkstone Waggonway

On April 4th 2006, volunteers from Yorkshire Water helped the Roggins Local History Group from Silkstone start on another stage of renovating Silkstone Waggonway. The Waggonway was originally used for transporting coal from Silkstone Common to the canal basin at Cawthorne.

The Waggonway needed passbys for the wagons going in opposite directions to pass, and it was one of these that was being excavated.

Together, the Partnership and the History Group applied for funding from Awards for All, which was used for the installation of a new information board at Pot House Hamlet.
